Objective To explore the relationship between APACHE â…¡ score and serum lipid, total protein, albumin, as well as the effect of lipid level on prognosis of acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis patients admitted to ICU.Methods In a retrospective cohort study, APACHE â…¡ score, total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), total protein (TP) and albumin were collected from 52 patients admitted to ICU due to acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis. All of the patients were divided into two groups: group â…  (22 patients who died) and group â…¡ (30 patients who survived). Data were analyzed with SPSS 10.0.RESULTS Patients in group â…  had significantly higher APACHE â…¡ score and TG levels than those in group â…¡. An inverse correlation was found between APACHE â…¡ score and HDL-C , TP level.CONCLUSION Serum lipid and TP, albumin could be employed as to evaluate the patients' condition of patients with chronic bronchitis exacerbation admitted to respiratory intensive care units in the future.
