Facial defects caused by tumors and trauma are often rehabilitated by facial prostheses. The basic requirement for facial prostheses is to realize the emulating rehabilitation, including shape, color, texture and function emulation. The traditional facial prostheses are made by means of hand worked sculptured wax pattern, its shape was limited by sculpture techniques of technicians. In the 1990s, CAD/CAM, RE and RP techniques were employed to fabricate facial prostheses. Many scholars fabricated auricular and nasal prostheses by means of kinds of RE and RP methods. Its process was as follows: data collection and 3D reconstruction —resin model made by means of RP -wax model —-silicone prostheses. It is impossible to make wax models directly by present RP techniques and materials. Wax models must be made from resin models. In this study, the wax models were fabricated by means of SLS and wax powder PCP1 to simplify the fabrication of prostheses. The examination and the preliminary improvement of the quality of PCP1 were also made. Results indicated that:1. The SLS system and wax powder PCP1 could be employed to fabricate wax models of noses and ears directly. The skin texture could be made on the wax...
