Objective: To study the efficiency of bone strength of neck of femur on prediction of fracture of neck of femur. Methods: 460 senile subjects were involved in the present study, whose bone density were measured by DEXA and whose bone strength were measured by MES, and were followed up. Results: According to bone strength of neck of femur, 314 patients (68.26%) were diagnosed of normal bone quantity, 97 (21.09%) patients deficient bone quantity, 36 (7.83%) osteoporosis, 8 (1.74%) serious osteoporosis and 5 patients (1.09%) were diagnosed of high risk of fracture. In the flower-up survey, 18 subjects fractured, including 3 fracture of neck of femur, 2 intertrochanter fracure of femur, 5 vertebralfracture, 5 distal radius fracture and 3 others. Conclusion: Bone strength of neck of femur can supply quantity basis on prediction of fracture of neck of femur.
