Artemisia rupestris L. belongs to the Artemisia L. of Compositae, and the whole plant is used as medicine. The Artemisia rupestris L. can carminative and activate blood, clear away the heat-evil and expel superficial evils, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory, anti-hypersuscepti-bility, antitumor, and antidote snake venom. It is mainly used to treat cold, pharyngitis, urticaria, hepatitis and etc. It distributes in Altai, Tianshan, Kunlun Mountains of Xinjiang, forest and plain altitude 1600~4500 meter. It is also in some countries and regions in Mengolia, Europe and Russia.Artemisia rupestris L. is the traditional herb of minority in Xinjiang. It has abundant resource, considerable reserves. Many chemical constituents were obtained, which were rupestric acid, rupestonic acid and isorupestonic acid, aciphylle acid, cis-spiroketlaendatherpolyin, trans-spiroketlaendatherpolyin, gardenin D, daucosterin, β -sitosterol, palmitic acid; sophocarpin, sophoridine, and etc. Artemisia rupestris L. is special herb in Xinjiang, have been considered as one of the valuable herb to develop. And the"Compound Yizhihao liquid preparetion" has been widely applied in clinic to confront the cold, hepatitis and hypersusceptibility. Most scholars believe that flavones are the main activated constituents by TLC. In order to quest for the flavones in Artemisia rupestris L. further, this article studied the chemical compounds again in Artemisia rupestris L..We studied the chemical constituents of Artemisia rupestris L., and isolated nine compounds from EtOH extract fraction, and eight of them were testified by chemical and spectrum means such as UV, 1H-NMR,13C-NMR, MS and etc. They are β -sitosterol, β -sitosterol-3-O-β - glu-coside, tetracosyldialcohols, rupestonic acid, casticin, luteolin, 1-doubly linked oxygen-2-oxygen-4 ' -methoxy-5-hydroxy-isoflavanone-7-O- β -D-glucopyranosides, 1 -doubly linked oxygen-2-oxygen-4' -methoxy-5,7-dihydroxy-isoflavanone. Among them, except that the β-Sitosterol, β-Sitosterol-3-O-β -glucoside, rupestonic acid had been reported, casticin, luteolin, 1-doubly linked oxygen-2-oxygen-4 ' -methoxy-5-hydroxy-isoflavanones-7-O-β-D-glucopyranoside, and 1-doubly linked oxygen-2-oxygen-4' -methoxy-5,7-dihydroxy-isoflavanones were isolated from Artemisia Rupestris L. in Xinjiang for the first time. 1-doubly linked oxygen-2-oxygen-4 ' -methoxy-5-hydroxy-isoflavanone-7-O- β -D-glucopyranoside, 1-doubly linked oxygen-2-oxygen-4' -methoxy-5,7-dihydroxy-isoflavanone, these two new compounds' chemical structure can be explained well by the data in UV, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, and MS. 1H-1HCOSY, HMQC, HMBC can define their relativity, moreover the glycosidation shift, substituent radical shift, γ -effection and other rules can explain that the C-ring belonged to the new framework of isoflavanones .The effective part of aliphatic-soluble has been proved to have antivirus activity absolute, for the reason the above mentioned study not only supplement the chemical content of Artemisia rupestris L., but also settle the material fundation for supplying the mark in fixing quality and quantity in this herb. The discovered new compounds richen the systematic information of nature in flavones, which is significative in research.
