Objectives: To evaluate whether Zhi-Bai-Di-Huang Decotion has the influence on apoptosis and Fas/FasL expression in spermatogentic cells or not,and explore its mechanism of treating male infertility suffered from UU infection.Methods: 30 rats were selected randomly from 40 male S.D. rats after infected by UU which was injected into the bladder. They were divided into three groups after two months observation:the model group,the treatment group with ZBDHD,and the treatment group with medicine( Minocyn).There were other 10 rats for in the blank control group. After have been fed for 45 days continuously, the weight was observed, UU in the testises was cultrued, the testis pathologic expression was examined,and the apoptosis and Fas/FasL expression in spermatogentic cells was tested.Results: The weight of the rats'testises in the model group was much Lighter than that of the other three groups(p<0.05). The UU-positiv.e rats were 7 cases(70%)in the model group , which were more than that of the blank control group,the Minocyn group(22.2%), and the ZBDHD group(22.2%). The percentage of apoptosis and the level of Fas/FasL expression in the model group was much higher than that of the other three groups(P<0.05). The testispathologic expression in the model group was worse than that of the other groups(P<0.05).All the experimental results had no significant difference among the blank control group, the Minocyn group, and the ZBDHD group(P>0.05).Conclusions: 1. ZBDHD can effectively inhibit the grouth and reproduction of UU.2. The percentage of apoptosis and the level of Fas/FasL expression in rats' spermatogentic cells can increase significantly after have been infected by UU.3. Fas/FasL can induce the increasement of spermatogentic cell apoptosis in rat models infected by UU.4. ZBDHD can decrease the percentage of apoptosis and the level of Fas/FasL expression in rat models infected by UU. At this point, there were no significant difference between ZHDHD and Minocyn.5. ZBDHD can be used as a basic prescription to treat male infertility suffered from UU infection.
