Objective: Study the morphology, structure, distribution and classification of the sensilla on the antenna and labellum of Aedes albopictusa and the structure of antennal lobe. It can reveal the sense pathways, wich is the foundation of sense mechanism in theory and also can guide a way to control Aedes albopictusa and the infection in practice.Methods: Use light microscope, scanning and transmission electron microscope to observe the sensilla on the antenna and labellum; Use H.E and Cajals to study the central neuron in the antennal lobe.Results: (l)The antenna of Aedes albopictusa is comprised of a scape, a pedicel and a flagellum of 13 sub-segments, and the flagellum covers mass of sensilla. The sensilla on the antenna are seven types, namely, sensilla trichodea, sensilla chaetica, sensilla basiconica, sensilla auricillica, small sensilla coeloconica, Bohm hair and sensilla squamiformia. Sensilla trichodea comprises 2 types, there are approximately 550 on 13 segments of the flagellum and each sensilla have 1~2 neurons. Sensilla chaetica is found about 106 and 2 types on the antenna, every sensilla have 1 neuron. Sensilla basiconica are 3 types, and about 90,1 ~2 neuron in the sensilla. Small sensilla coeloconicas are distribute 4 on the 13 and 1 segements and Bohm hair covers densely the whorlpedical and scape. There are 2 auricillica and more than 20 sensilla squamiformia on the antenna.(2) Labellum on the tip of the mouthparts, the sensilla cover densely in it and have 3 types: long hair sensilla, short hair sensilla and microtrichia. Long hair sensilla are taste sensilla, 30 are distribute in the labellum, every ventral 10, dorsal 5. The morphology of short hairs like long hairs, more than 100 and microtrichia have large numbers in the labellum. (3)The antenna lobes in Aedes albopictusa are situated at the anterior aspect of the brain. The diameter of it is about 40um and contain about 35 glomeruluses , wich receive the axon from the frontally situated antenna. The antenna lobe is the primary sense nerves central.Conclusions: The sense pathways of Aedes albopictusa are composed of outer sensilla , sensilla neurons and central neurons. Outer sensilla receive odor matter ; sensilla neurons transmit the information and the central neurons process the information .The study reveals the sense pathways of Aedes albopictusa ,it makes us kown the sense system directly and deeply, and it significance for us to understand the sense mechanism and improve the way to control Aedes albopictusa .
