Objective: The study of sex hormones of systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE) on serum levels hasn't final conclusion .It is probably because they didn't regard the effect of ovarian cycle on the levels of sex hormones. The aim of this study is to clarity the serum sex hormones levels of SLE eliminating the influence, and to analyse the role of sex hormones in the episode and progress of SLE.Methods: The concentration of E2, P, T, LH, FSH and PRL was monitored in sera from 33 lupus patients and 33 controls. We estimated LACC of SLE , investigated the serum levels of sex hormones by two -related -samples nonparametric tests, analysed the correlation of sex hormones by spearman rank correlation in 33 patients of SLE, screeninged the significance sex hormones aiming directly at activity score of SLE by multi-linear regression. Results: 33 lupus patients and 22 active patients have increasedserum PRL levels and reduced serum LH and T levels compared to normal controls (P< 0.01) .The serum PRL levels of 11 inactive patiens are higher than the levels of 11-paired -contronls (P< 0.01) .It is also found that LH levels was positively correlated with the levels of FSH andPRL (P<0.01 or 0.05) . Multi-linear regression showed that FSH and T correlate with activity score. Conclusions: The low serum levels of LH and T are associated with activity of SLE, the most valuble sex homones to activity score are FSH and T, It is probably because Hypothalami is Inhibited, so the levels of sex hormones change, then result in SLE activity.
