OBJECTIVE: To explore the effects and mechanism of AAP on aging.METHODS: 1.The Bombyx mori were taken as expermental objects, and the life spans of Bombyx mori were observed. 2.The subacute senile mouse models induced by injection of D-galactose subcutaneously were used. The serum superoxide dismutase (SOD) activities ,the content of serum malondialdehyde (MDA),monoamine oxidase(MAO) activities and the content of monoamine neurotransmitters such as dopamine (DA), norepinephrine(NA), and 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) were measured to evaluate the anti-aging effect of AAP. 3.Stepdown and maze test were used to observe the efect on learning and memory function of D-galactose-induced aging mice. RESULTS: AAP can prolong the Bombyx mods' life span. In mice, AAP significantly inhhibited the SOD decreasing and MDA increasing. AAP made the MAO activities decreased while the content of monoamine neurotransmitters increased. The learning and memory function of mice were improved remarkably. CONCLUSIONS: AAP possesses obvious effects of anti-aging and improvement on learning and memory.
