Part I Development and clinical application of orthodonticoffice information systemObjective To study how to use the technology of information management, database and graphics for developing the orthodontic office information system.Methods Base on the expert's demonstration and investigation, the Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 and Visual C++ 6.0 are used to develop the information management system.Results There are 7 sub-function models in our system, and they are used to manage patients, materials, personnel, finance, teaching, scientific research and administration respectively. We inputted 100 medical records to test the system, the result showed us that the system has a strong and perfect function for clinical service, and it is simple and convenient to be used.Conclusion The clinical application of this system could enhance the user's management level and benefit to patients and clinical service.Part II Development and study of a 3-dimensional CT scanningsystem for dental cast measurement and analysis Objective To develop a computer assisted CT scanning system for 3D dental cast measurement and study its reliability.Methods By using helical CT to scan a dental stone cast and capture a series digital sliced radiographs of it .The program which is developed by Visual C++ 6.0 language and run under the Windows surroundings can rebuild the 3D graphics and measure the coordinate of the dental cast. Results The system offers resoling power 0.1 mm mean deviation, no more than 1 minute for single cast scanning. 20 dental casts were scanned and measured to test the reliability of the system ,the result showed that there were no significant difference between 3D-CTscanning and manual(P>0.05).Conclusions The system is a valuable computer assisted system for clinical diagnosis and treatment of malocclusion .
