OBJECTIVE : To study the constitution, infective pathway, therapeutic effect, main complications and relative factors of patients with hepatitis C. METHODS : We selected 201 patients who had infected hepatitis C virus in the department of infectious disease during 1994 to 2003, and made a retrospective analysis of them. Basing on sex, race, age, profession, infective pathway, complication, and constitution rate.We compared effect of anti-virus therapy with effect of no anti-virus therapy. RESULTS : The cases with hepatitis C are on a rise, and are increased at 63% degree every year. In patients, male: female is 1.7: 1, Han: Uigur : Hui: Kazakstan is 32: 15.5: 1.75: 1. Infection rate in 30-39 years is the peak in patients (31.8%), ≥ 60 years is second (20.9%), <20 years is at the least (3%). Administers and workers are the biggest part in patients (88.9%). The main infective pathway for HCV is blood transfusion. Coinfection with hepatitis C virus (HCV) and other virus is 13% in total. Electrolyte disorder is the most common complication 55. 2%. 43. 9% of patients eliminated HCV-RNA by INF, while 19.4% of patients by IFN-untreated did that. CONCLUSION : The cases with hepatitis C are continuously increased .The middle-aged and the old are at the bigger risk in HCV infection. Female patients are obviously less than male. And this study also indicates that Han infection is obviously more than other races. Infection in administers and worker is significantly more than farmers. Blood transfusion is the maininfective pathway for HCV. The most common complication is electrolyte disorder. HCV-RNA in sera of most patients with hepatitis C is eliminated by anti-virus therapy.
