| Objective: To study the role and relationship of MMP-2 , MMP-9, CD147 in pancreatic carcinomas invasion and metastasis and to evaluate the clinical significance.Method: The expression of MMP-2, MIv4P-9, CD 147 were examined by immunohistochemical technique in 50 case:; of pancreatic carcinomas and 10 cases of normal tissues.The relationship between the expression and clinical-pathological behaviors were also analyzed?Result:: (l)The positive rate of MMP-2 was 20% in 10 cases of normal pancreases and the expression number was 34 in pancreatic carcinomas, the difference between them had markedly statistical significance (P<0.05), the staining intensity of MMP-2 in pancreatic carcinomas was significantly associated with the clinicopathologic stage and lymph node metastasis (P<0.01 ,P<0.01), but no distinct difference w as found in other parameters . (2) The expression of MMP-9 was much hi.gher in pancreatic carcinomas than in normal tissues(P<0.01), the positive rate was 64%, it had a great relevancy with the clinical stage, lymph node metastasis and prognosis (P<0.01 ,P<0.01 ,P<0.01), but no distinct difference was found in histological grade and other parameterso (3) The expression of CD147 was detectedMMP-2, MMP-9,only in pancreatic carcinomas,not in normal tissues,the positive rate was correlated with pathological stage , lymph note metastasis and survival rate (P<0,05,P<0.05,P<0.05) o (4) The expression of MMP-2 , MMP-9 was positively associated in pancreatic carcinomas(P<0.01) , no noticeable relationship was found between CD 147 gere expression and MMP, MMP-9 gene expression(P>0.05 P>0.05),.Conclusion: The expression of MMP2^MVlP-9 and CD147 is correlated with lymph node metastasis and clinicopathologica stage ?MMP-2 , MMP-9 might have co-operated effects, contribute to the aggressive behavior of pancreatic carcinomas. . CD147 may act in a heterophilic manner with a receptor on adjacent fibroblastSo The expression of MMP-9, CD147 could be powerful predictors of poor prognosis .
