Objective To explore the activity of plasma TPS and the clinical significance of surgical treatment for the patient with lung cancer.Method The plasma TPS level was detected in 38 patients with lung cancer, and in 23 patients with lung benign pulmonary disease and 30 adults healthy as control by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay( ELISA).The blood samples were detected on the day before operation and on the 14th day postoperation atively. The cutoff value was obtained by ROC curve. Results The plasma TPS level was greater than those in serum .We obtained the cutoff values of 330.17U/L,when the sensitivity and specificity were 71.9% and 68.2% respectively. The level of plasma TPS in patients with lung cancer were significantly higher than those in patients with benign pulmonary disease and normal individuals ( P < 0. 05),but there was no significant difference between patients with benign pulmonary disease and normal individuals ( P > 0. 05).In patients with small cell lung cancer it was significant higher than those with non small cell lung cancer, and there was no statistic difference among the five pathologic types of NSCLC. The level of preoperative plasma TPS in patients with lung cancer were closely related to stage of lung cancer, and the level is higher in respect to the higher stage,it was significant higher with TNM â…¢,â…£stage than that with â… andâ…¡ stage(P<0.01,P <0.01).The contents of TPS in patients with lymphoid node metastasis were apparently higher than those without metastasis(P<0.001).The level of TPS in lung cancer patients with lung cancer decreased markedly postoperatively(P<0.01),The level of plasma TPS decreased significantly in patients with lung cancer underwent radical removal of the cancer(P<0.001),there was no change after palliative operation or exploratory thoracotomies. The TPS level of penitents underwent radical resection was significantly higher than those underwent palliative operation ( P<0.05).Conclusion By ROC curve,we obtain the cutoff value which is 330.17 U/L. Detection of plasma TPS was not helpful to differentiate benign from malignant pulmonary disease ,it was helpful to stage clinically before operation,so we can judge the possibility of radical resection,to evaluate the effect to operation, to judge prognosis preliminary and to guide the comprehensive treatment of patients with lung cancer after operation...
