Objective:1. To explore the special response in psychology and behavior in SARS patients.2. To synthesize theories and methods of the clinical nursing, the mental health and infectious diseases nursing to interfere SARS patients with psychological nursing.3. To observe and evaluate the effects of psychological nursing on SARS patients.Objects: Out of the 77 cases, including the doubtful and diagnosed patients withSARS in our hospital from March to June in 2003, 74 cases were investigatedand interfered with psychological reaction (three of them died). Theretrospective study objects were the 43 diagnosed cases.Methods:1 .To construct and complete a psychological nursing intervention system.2.To conduct the plan of psychological nursing intervention.Results:1.Adaptive elements and emotional reactions in SARS patients: Most patientspsychologically responded at different levels. 96.6% of them showed inferiority,loneliness and dereliction and 27.6% showed sadness, desperation and denial.2.In retrospective studies on the SCL-90:2.1 Except the scores of compelling, relationship and partial factor all the scores of the factors were significantly higher than those of internal normal control, especially in somatization.2.2 Expect the scores of hostile and partial factor all the SCL-90 factor scoresof the 43 diagnosed patients were significantly higher than those of internal normal control when discharged, especially in depression (P<0.05).2.3 Comparison between SCL-90 factor scores during hospitalization and after discharge showed the scores of somatization, depression, anxiety, and psychiatric symptom factor after intervention tend to be declined compared with those before intervention.3. Comparison of understanding of society support during hospitalization, afterdischarge and when being investigated showed that it improved step by step andhad significant differences (P<0.05).Conclusion:1.Most patients with SARS had psychological and behavior crisis includinganxiety, terror, psychomotor excitement and suicidal behavior. They showedgreat tension in total.2.Active, organizational, synthetic and procedural psychological nursingintervention would beneficent patients with SARS in metal state and acceleratesrecovery from illness.
