| Objective To observe the clinical outcome in different operation timing to modest ischemia contracture of forearm, finding and choosing correct operation timing. Methods 50 cases with modest ischemia contracture of forearm were selected from 1995 to 2003. 25 cases were operated within 3 months after injuried, others were operated within 6 months to more than 1 year after injuried. Assesment of hand function and electromyogram of median and ulnar nerve were done. According the results, we analysed the outcome of tow different operation timing groups. Results According the assessment of hand function, in early operation group the result of 11 cases was excellent(S3M4), 9 good (S3M3) and 5 fair(S2M2). The rate of excellent and good was 80%. In late operation group the result of 6 cases was excellent(S3M4), 7 good(S3M3),10 fair (S2M2) and 2 bad(S1M2). The rate of excellent and good was 52%. At the same time, the electromyogram results showed significant difference between tow groups in the restoration of medion and ulnar nerve function. Conclusions The operation of decompression and release of the muscle and nerves should be performed earlily. The best timing for operation is within 3 months after injuried. It is important to the restoration of nerve and hand muscle function. |
