Objective: Hairy cell leukemia(HCL)is a rare, chronic B-lymphocyte malignancy characteristically unresponsive to traditional chemotherapy. In WHO(2000) classification,it is a subtype of NHL .The incidence rate is higher and higher in recent years. One case was reported for promoting the understanding of hairy cell leukemia.Materials and methods: The detailed clinical features of the case were analysed, and the related literature was reviewed.Resultes: The patient was gaven right treatment and has achieved complete remisson.Long follow-up indicates that he is still in the state of complete remisson which predicts the good prognosis.By learning the literature, the character of HCL is determined. The diagnosis of hairy cell leukemia isn,t very difficult, but must be differentiated with other hematological malignancies such as chronic lymphocytic leukemia, splenic lymphoma with villous lymphocytes and so on.To determine the right treatment hour and check are important. Follow-up is indispensable to improve the prognosis. Conclusions:The clinical course of its development is slow.Watchful wating is appropriate for asymptomatic patients.Patients who develop significant neutropenia (absolute neutrophil count <1×109) anemia (hemoglobin concentration<10.0g/l) in the course of their disease should be considered.Patients with symptomatic splenomegaly, constitutional symptoms such as fever or night sweats due to HCL,or repeated infections may benefit from treatment. The first line therapy drug for HCL is Purine Analogue, the second rhIFN.For relapses after primary rhIFN therapy still recommend Purine Analogue. The refractory patients need to be treated with others, such as immunotherapy and so on.
