It is a middle and inevitable stage of hepatic fibrosis in the development of chronic hepatopathy to hepatocirrhosis[1]. Recent studies indicated that hepatic fibrosis was a reversible pathological course while hepatocirrhosis was nor . Therefore, there will be beneficial effects on the prevention, cure and reversion of hepatocirrhosis if diagnosis and treatment are performed during the stage of hepatic fibrosis. Theories and reports of traditional Chinese medicine and modern medicine were adopted to investigate the feasibility and validity of "Gankang Yin" in this study. It was regarded that the accumulation of noxious heat, the stagnation of the liver-qi and the deficiency of the spleen were the main syndromes in the early stage in chronic hepatopathy hepatic fibrosis, and the static blood obstructing network vessels and the deficiency of liver-yin and kidney-yin in the metaphase and advanced stage. The basic treatments adopted in this study were clearing away heat and toxic materials, soothing the liver, invigorating the spleen, and promoting blood circulation and softening hard masses.A prescription named "Gankang Yin" was established and its effects on clinical investigation onhepatic fibrosis of hepatitis B in 62 patients were performed. And animal research was performed meanwhile. It was proved that "Gankang Yin" could significantly protect liver, reduce ALT, normalizing the function of gallbladder and curing jaundice, improve the degradation process of the collagenous fibers, significantly improve the liver function and decrease the hepatic collagen level. It showed that "Gankang Yin" was beneficial in decreasing the inflammation in hepatocytes and promoting the regeneration of hepatic cellular and the degeneration of fibrosis tissues.
