Diagnosis And Treatment Of Testicular Torsion (Report Of 52 Cases)

[Objective]To improve the diagnosis and treatment of testicular torsion. [Methodes]All closed case files from our center (the Department of Urology, First Affiliated Hospital , Medical College of Zhejiang University), involving testicular torsion from the years 1990 to 2002 were retrospectively reviewed. The following data were collected: annual incidence , seasonal or monthly occurrence, timing of presentation, initial and final diagnosis given, radiographic studies, treatment provided, outcomes. [Results]Patients aged 25 years or younger comprised 76. 9%(40/52). Except one case of bilateral torsion , the left testis was affected in 38 cases while torsionoccurred on the right side in 13. There was thus a 2.96: 1 ratio in the favor of the left side.Duration of torsion was within 6h in 5 cases,
