Surgical Treatment Of Cadiac Myxoma

Objective To review the experience of diagnosis and treatment of cardiacmyxoma.Methods From May 1981 through February 2004, 22 Patients with cardiacmyxoma underwent surgical treatment. Left atrial myxomas was by rightatrium -atrial septal incision, right atrial myxoma by right atrialincision and left ventricular myxoma by atrium-tricuspid valve incision.1 case received mitral valve replacement, 6 received tricuspid valveplastic.Results 2 died after operations, the others recovered and discharged.Follow-up 6 months to 20 years after operation, all survived withoutatrial myxomas relapsed.Conclusion Cardiac myxoma was very dangerous to patients. We should tryour best to resect them once we found them. The operative results weresatisfying. Heart failure and cerebral infarction aren' t operative tabu.Certain incision or off-pump shouldn' t be emphasized.
