Clinical Analysis Of 5 Cases Of POEMS Syndrome

Objective : To report 5 cases of POEMS syndrome , a brief review was made about its clinical features , laboratory examinations , diagnosis , and its pathogenesis and treatments were elucidated . And to provide basis for diagnosis and treatment earlier. Methods : Clinical analysis of 5 cases of POEMS syndrome and data review were made , and its characteristic was summarized . Results : The patients had polyneuropathy , organomegaly , endocrinopathy , M-protein and skin changes respectively . The women in menstruation often had hypertension . Pathogenesis remains unknown . Treatment with glucocorticoid have lead to improvement . Conclusion : POEMS syndrome is a multisystemic disorder associated with plasma cell dyscrasia , the clinical characteristics were complex and various . Multiple system exam should be performed , especially in nervous system , to prevent from misdiagnosis .
