The Expressions Of P27～(kip1) And CyclinD₁ And Their Significance In Hepatocellular Carcinoma

OBJECTIVE To study the expression of p27kip1 and CycIinDi proteins in hepatocellular carcinoma and their significance.METHOD p27kip1 and CycIinDi protein were detected by S-P immunohistochemical method in 40 cases of hepatocellular carcinoma, 15 cases of hepatic cirrhosis and 5 cases of normal liver of paraffin-embedded sections of hepatocellular carcinoma.RESULTS (1) The positive rate of p27kip1 protein in 40 cases of hepatocellular carcinoma was 32.5%(13/40),60%(9/15) in hepatic cirrhosis,80%(4/5) in normal liver.The difference between them was prominent(P<0.05),statistical correlation existed between p27kip1 protein and the histological differentiation,histological size,lymph node metastasis,distance metastasis and survival.(2) The positive rate of CycIinDi protein in 40 cases of hepatocellular carcinoma was 57.5% (23/40), 46.67%(7/40) in hepatic cirrhosis,40%(2/5) in normal liver.The difference between them was not prominent(P>0.05), statistical correlation existed only between CycIinDi protein and the histological differentiation and distance metastasis.(3) The expression of p27kip1showed no significance with that of CyclinD1(P>0.05).CONCLUSION (1) Both p27kip1 protein and CyclinD1 protein may correlate with HCC,but their roles may be independent.(2) To some extent,p27kip1 protein can predict the progression and prognosis of HCC.
