Objective: To investigate the expression and significance of VEGF, CXCR4 and SDF-1 in gastric cancer.Method: The expression of VEGF,CXCR4 and SDF-1 in gastric cancer and precancerous leisions were examined with immunohisto- chemical techniques (S-P).Result: The positive rate of VEGF and CXCR4 in gastric cancer were 64.29% and 50.00%,and expressions of both were higher than nornmal tissue ,chronic gastitis, intestinal metaplasia and atypical hyperlasia(P<0.05);The positive rate of SDF-1 in gastric cancer was 48.21%,that was lower than nornmal tissue ,chronic gastitis and intestinal metaplasia(P<0.05).There was no significant difference between the positive rate of SDF-1 in gastric cancer and atypical hyperlasia(P>0.05). Moreover, the expressions of VEGF and CXCR4 in gastric cancer were correlated significantly with the depth of local infiltration of gastric ,lymph node matastasis and the clinical stage(P<0.05),and their expressions were not associated with patient's age, sex, tumor size and the degree of tumor differentiation(P>0.05). The expression of SDF-1 was not associated with clinincal pathological features of gastric cancer(P>0.05). The expression of VEGF was significantly related with the expression of CXCR4(γ=0.452,P<0.01), but they were not related with the expression of SDF-1(P>0.05).Conclusion: The expression of VEGF and CXCR4 in gastric cancer was significantly higher.Besides the function of stimulating angiogenesis by paracrine machanism,VEGF possibly use autocrine signaling pathway and expression of CXCR4 to promote the invasion and matastasis of gastric cancer. The expression of SDF-1 in gastric cancer was significantly lower, and it would be a mechanism by that gastric cancer escapes human immunity, therefore,it is possible that SDF-1 has a role in the occurrence of gastric cancer.
