Objective:The objective of this study is to explore the relationship between MVD(microvessel density) and VEGF (vessel endothelial cell growth factor)in pathological scars and their meaning in the formation, development and clinical treatment of pathological scars.Method:We studied 22 pathological scars(keloid: 11 cases, hypertrophic scars: 11 cases). To dye microvessels and VEGF in the scars,we used immunohistochemical method and counted them under microscope. Then we did statistic analysis with SPSS and Excel software.Result: CD The MVD and VEGF of hypertrophical scars in peripheral areas are higher than the relative central areas, there are statistics significations between them P<0.05; The MVD and VEGF of keloids in peripheral areas are higher than the relative central areas, there are statistics significations between them P< 0.01.(2) The MVD and VEGF of hypertrophical scars are higherthan those of keloids in central parts ,there are statistics significations between them P<0.01;The VEGF and MVDof hypertrophical scars are lower than those of keloid in peripheral part, there are statistics significations P<0.05.(3)The MVD of hypertrophic scars in peripheral areas decreased with time passing by.Conclution: (1) The peripheral part of pathological scars are younger scar tissue, and more central more old,and vessels are abundent in peripheral part, so this part can represent the biological behavior of pathological scars. (2) Hypoxia in the central part may be one of the mian causes of the bulge of keloid. (3) The more VEGF and MVD in peripheral part of keloid may be one of the main cause of keloid invading growth, and may be one of the cause of different mechanism between keloid and hypertrophical scar.
