The aim of this paper is to investigate and summarize Wang Ang's academic thoughts, which developed under special historical conditions .The background include ' thinking of practical study', 'the introduction of western culture to China' as well as 'influence of Confucianism'.These academic thoughts of Wang Ang can be broken into the features below. Firstly, he learned widely from both ancient experts and western medicine. Secondly, he was good at concentrating all the essence of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Thirdly, he arranged the prescriptions and emphasized the importance of standard to TCM. Fourthly, he devoted all his life to TCM education and achieved remarkable results in this field. At the same time, his books involved a great deal of precious clinical practice, such as 'summer-heat is usually accompanied with dampness', 'the six method of curing gout'.The research reveals that Wang Ang's academic thoughts greatly influence TCM, further more, it offer lots of valuable proposal on how to improve the TCM education today.
