Repair Of Large Cicatrical Baldness With Mutiple Soft Tissue Expanders

Objective To investigate the treatment for large cicatrical baldness. Methods 10 patients with cicatrical baldness treated in our hospital from Mar. 1999 to Mar. 2002 were reviewed, soft tissue expansion was performed on all of the patients. During the first surgery, mutiple expanders were implanted into the normal scalp, after completing infusion, remove the expanders and repair the baldness with the expansive flap. Relaying expansion can be adopted if the expanded flap was not enough. Results The ten patients acquired the scalp reconstruction, although the hair density was decreased than ever, the effect was still satisfaied. Conclusion Using mutiple expanders is a ideal method for repairing cicatricial baldness.
