PrefaceThe patients who were diagosed with fatty infiltrated liver or cir-rhotic become more and more as the improvement of standard of living and changes of dietetic habit. Because cirrhosis is irreversible in histology if pseudolobule has formed. So it is become a very important question for patients and doctors how to eveluate the degree and development of fatty infiltration conveniently and effectively .people pay more attention to these diffuse liver disease . Commonly, the two dimensions ultrasound diagnose such diffuse liver disease is particularly useful . It can provide fundamental information about liver by grey - scake B - mode images , attenuation, figure of liver and blood flow dynamics. But all of these cant evaluate liver pathologic changes effectively. The technology of ultrasonic integrated backscat-ter is a new method which is unwound and quantitative to evaluate characterization of tissue. It has been used widely in aspect of liver, kidney, especially heart disease. In this study we intend to testify that ultrasonic integrated backscatter is a good parameter to quantify subtle pathological changs.MaterialsAnimal model : fifty - five male rats which were from Medical U-niversity of China Research Animal Center each weighting 250 ?1g .Seven rats were chosen randomly as control group. Others were injec ted 50% carbon tetrachloride into the abdominal cavity at a dose of 1 ml/kg, two times a week. Its eleven weeks at all.Instrument : All study data were acquired by using Hewlett -Packard Sonos 5500 ultrasonic system equipped with IBS analysis soft ware with a 7. 5 ~ 10 MHz phased array transducer.MethodsSwitching on AD ?IBS procedure, we preset the instrument set tings of gain , depth, LGC, time - gain - compensation ( TGC ) and fixed them during the experiment. Anaesthesia and fix the rats and clear the belly hair. We acquired digital integrated backscatter (IBS) image from belly cross section. Liver of rats's IBS intensity were re-spectively measured by putting the region of interest ( ROI: 30x30 pixels) in near field and far field( according to the depth). Sample of liver tissues had get in anaesthesia appearance , using 10% formalde-hyde liquid fix, the HE stained. All the data were divided into five groups : group A: the Normal, group B; the light fatty liver , group C: the mildly fatty liver ,group D:the heavy fatty liver, group E;earli-er cirrhosis.Statistical analysis: All data acquired was analyzed by SPSS 8.0 software and presented as mean value SD.Results1. According to the pathology, there were 7 rats whose livers were normal . There were 7 rats whose livers were fatty infiltrated lightly. There were 6 rats whose livers were inside fatty infiltrated. There were 9 rats whose livers were fatty infiltrated heavily. Therewere 8 rats whose livers were earlier cirrhosis. 12 rats were dead and others didnt agree with the standard of divide .2. There was no significant statistical difference in near field and far field among group A, B, C, D and E. ( P > 0.05 ).3. PPI had statistical difference between case groups (3.47 ?. 86 dB, 3.47 ?.83 dB, 3.48 ?.19 dB, 3.49 ?.98 dB ,respec-tively ) and control group(2.78 ?1.04 dB) ( P <0.05). There was no significant statistical difference in case groups ( P > 0. 05 ). AH had significant statistical difference between case groups and control group ( P < 0. 01), There were significant statistical difference in the four case groups ( P < 0.01). Among the four case groups , group E (30.05 ?. lldB)was the hightest. The second was group D (27.63 ?1. 19 dB) . The third was group C(24.28 ?1.36 dB) and the low est was group B(20. 66 ?. 52dB). SDI had no statistical difference in control group (0. 80 ?.27 dB)and case groups(0. 82 ?.29 dB, 0.83 ?.34 dB, 0.83 ?.35 dB, 0.87 ?.27 dB , respectively, P>0. 05). So did among case groups. AH% had significant statistical difference in group A, B, C, D, and E ( P < 0. 01). Such results were same as All.DiscussionsLiver with fatty infiltrat...
