Chemical study of Woodwardia japonica afforded the new p-sitosterol-3-O-α-L-(6-O-pentadecanoyl) glycoside (Ⅶ) together with six known compounds, kaempferol 3-O-α-L-(4-O-acetyl)rhamnopyranoside-7-O-α-L-rhamnopyranoside (Ⅰ), kaempferol 3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranoside-7-O-α-L-rhamnopyranoside (Ⅱ), woodwardinic acid (Ⅲ), β-sitosterol (Ⅳ), daucosterol (Ⅴ), β-sitosterol-3-O-α-L-(6-O- hexadecanoyl ) glycoside (Ⅵ). The structure of these compounds was determined by spectroscopic methods. All of these compounds were isolated from Woodwardia japonica for the first time. Five compounds were identified but not isolated as monomeric compounds. They are kaempferol 7-O-α-L-rhamnopyranoside (Ⅷ-Ⅰ),kaempferol 3-O-α-L-(3,4-O-diacetyl) rhamnopyranoside (Ⅷ-Ⅱ) , kaempferol 3-O-α-L-rhamnopyranoside (Ⅷ-Ⅳ). kaempferol 3-O-α-L-(3-O-acetyl)rhamnopyranoside (Ⅷ-Ⅴ), kaempferol 3-O-α-L-(4-O-acetyl) rhamnopyranoside (Ⅷ-Ⅵ).
