Abnormal sublingual collaterals reflect te pathophysblogjcal process of peripheral circulatory disturbance fo the organism, so observing morohologic changes of sublingual collaterals is one of the important ways to study Qi and blood circulation conditions, and the significant content of TCM tongue inspection and the major fondation of treatment by syndrome differentiation in TCM as well By comparative observation of clinical cases snd study of animal esperimentjt is found that the tounge manifestations and sublingual collaterals' conditions of chronic liver disease have certain characteristics such as the bulish-purple tounge propersublingual collateral'distortion and petechiac and their gravity is in direct proportion to portal hypeitenaonis,varices of esophagofundis,spaenomegaly and degree of liver damage.The inspection of sublingual collaterals is of actual value to the diagnosis of the illness state and prognosis of these kinds of diseases. Prelirninary approach to the formation mechanism of tongue manifestations of chronic severe liver disease and searching for the sublingual collaterals'characteristics and their clinical significance of the disease \vill enable the inspection of rongue collaterals more objective and scientific in liver disease treatment of syndrome differentiation .In addition ,the thesis systematically reviewed the relative understandings on sublingual collaterals in successive dynasties and correlative researches of the inspection of tounge and chronic liver disease in modem medicine Jn a word ,the research will be of great significance to sublingual collaterakan examination technique of TCM, as well as realization of early diagnosis of chomic severe liver disease.
