Clinical Study On The Ovulation Inducing Effect Of Erzhitiaojing Decoction Combined With Human Menopausal Gonadotropin (HMG)

Objective To observe the effect of Erzhitiabjing decoction combined with HMG in treating anovulation and infertility, and to explore its effective mechanism. Methods Fifty-three patients of anovulation were randomly divided into two groups, 28 cases (67 cycles) in the tested group were treated with Erzhitiaojing decoction combined with HMG, and 25 cases(66 cycles) were treated with HMG alone, observe the ampoules of HMG per cycle, the numbers of leading follicles, hormone levels, follicle scores, and endometrial receptivity with transvaginal color Doppler(TVCD) ultrasonic examination on the day of HCG injection were observed. Moreover, ovulation rate per cycle, pregnancy rate, pregnancy rate per cycle and OHSS rate were compared between these two groups. Results (1) The symptoms and signs of study group had been significantly improved after treatment, there was significant difference between the two groups.(2)The ovulation rates per cycle in the two groups were similar, but pregnancy rate per couple and per cycle were significantly higher in study group than thecontrols. (3) Patients, who treated with Erzhitiaojing decoction combined with HMG had lower OHSS rate and fewer HMG ampoules than those who received HMG alone. (4)Serum Luteinzing hormone(LH) and Progestogen (P) levels in study group on the day of HCG injection were lower than the controls. (5)There were more leading follicles, greater follicle scores and endometrial thickness in the combined protocol group than those in the HMG alone group. Endometrial pattern and uterine artery blood flow parameter(PI RI) had been greatly improved, the difference between the two groups was significant. Conclusion Erzhitiaojing decoction had cooperation with HMG on ovulation induction. Ampoules of HMG and OHSS rate per cycle could be reduced, pregnancy rate and pregnancy rate per cycle could be elevated by the combined protocol. The effective mechanism may be due to the function of Chinese herbal medicine for tonifying kidney which can improve the level of reproductive endocrine, quality of oocytes and endometrial receptivity.
