Objective To analys the relationship between risk of nasopharyngeal carcinoma and human leukocyte antigens. And evaluate the specific CTL response to LMP1 within nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients. Methods The HLA-A2 locus from both healthy donors and NPC patients was detected by PCR-SSP assay. HLA-A2-positive nasopharyngeal carcinoma and normal control populations were analysed by ELISPOT assay to quantify frequencies of CTLs specific for LMP1 epitopes, using 2 HLA-A2-restricted petides derived from LMP1 as stimulators. Results There are no statistic significance between the HLA-A frequencies of NPC patients and control groups. Within NPC patients, frequencies of CTLs specific for LMP1 epitopes is lower than that of normal controls. Conclusion The HLA-A2 locus may have no association with the susceptibility to NPC. The specific CTL response to LMP1 within nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients is lower than that within normal groups.
