Objective Impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) is an early stage of 2 type diabetes mellitus (DM), however, it has different reports on IGT islet (-cell function. This study is to look a sensitive evaluation method of islet (-cell function and to evaluate IGT (-cell function. Methods Immunoreactive insulin (IRI), insulin (I) and blood glucose were measured in IGT,2 type DM and normal glucose tolerance (NGT). Insulin resistance index and insulin secretion index were courted in NGT,IGT and 2 type DM. NGT was made as a contrast. Results ①In obese group, fasting IRI concentration among NGT,IGT and 2 type DM has not significant difference; In no-obese group, IRI concentration in IGT is higher than in NGT, but the IRI concentration has not significant difference between IGT and 2 type DM. ②In obese group, fasting I concentration has not significant difference; In no-obese group, IRI concentration in IGT is higher than in 2 type. ③The odds of I/IRI was decreased from group NGT→IGT→2 type DM.④Insulin resistance index is increased from group NGT→IGT→2 type DM. ⑤IGT islet (-cell function has been damaged, IGT (-cell function is only 73.90% of NGT (-cell function. Conclusion IGT islet (-cell function has been damaged. Insulin should be chosen to evaluate islet β-cell function , meanwhile consider the influent factors such as proinsulin and insulin resistance.
