Objective: Observed the effect of Huanzhentangkang mistura on inhibition of non-enzymatic glycosylation of albumen , and to study the possible action mechanism. Methods: Quercetin 6Omg.kg-1, was given to streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. Huanzhentangkang mistura was administered to diabetic rats, Blood glucose, GALb .LPO SOD IC . TG . and advanced glycosylation end products (AGEs) were measured and analysed. Rats were killed after 12 weeks of administration. Iipoperoxide adducts in renal cortex. Results: The early non-enzymatic glycation products-fructosamine were jatj mistura treated group, It can depress levels of blood glucose LPO . IC and TG, advance SOD activity, the fluorescence intensities of AGEs, pentosidine, and MDA and HNE adducts in renal cortex weresignificantly reduced in Huanzhentangkang mistura treated group than untreated DM group. Glomemlar basement membrane thickening and mesangial matrix expansion were improved in the treated group. Conclusion: The results suggest that Huanzhentangkang mistura may inhibite non-enzymatic glycation and oxidation in the kidney of streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats and control the diabetic nephropathy.
