Study on the effect of OSAS on thyroid function and the relationship between it and IL-2,IL-6Postgraduate: Guo Yanhong Supervisor: Associate Prof. Ji QiuheObjective: (1) To study the effect of OSAS on thyroid function through observing serum the levels of FT3, FT4 and TSH in patients with OSAS. (2) To explor relationship between IL-2, IL-6 and OSAS through measuring serum levels of IL2 ^ IL-6 in patients with OSAS. (3) To observe relationship between IL-2,IL-6 and thyroid hormone.Methods: 40 cases diagnosed as OSAS by PSG were selected as trial group(12 mild, 10 moderate, 18 severe), 10 cases excluded from SAS by PSG were selected as control group. RIA was used to detect the Serum levels of FT3, FT4, IL- 2 and IL-6; IRMA was used to detect the serum THS levels .The markers mentioned above were compared in trial group and control group.Relavant analysis was performed between serum sbustance and respiratory parameters .Relavant analysis was performed between IL-2JL-6 and FT3, FT4,TSH.Results: (1) The levels of serum FT3, FT4, TSH were slightly lower than that of the control group, but there was no significant difference between these two groups. Only one sub-clinic hypothyrodism was found in 40patients with OSAS. (2) The serum levels of IL-6 were significantly higher in trial group than in control group (p<0.05) and IL-6 has relation with severity of OSAS. Farther analysis, there was a positive correlation between IL-6 and percentage of time spend when oxygen staturation lower than 90%(SLT90%)CP<0.05),and so did between IL-6 level and the ratio of apnea time over total sleep time, there was a positive correlation between IL-6 and AMI. but IL-6 had no correlation with BMI(/*>0.05). The serum levels of IL-2 had no significant difference between trial group and control group, but there was a positive correlation between IL-2 and IL-6, BMI (PO.05). (3) There was a negative correlation between IL-6 and FTs.Conclusion: (1) There was high prevalence of OSAS in patients with hypothyroidism,but OSAS has no significant effect on thyroid function. (2) There is a close relationship between IL-6 and OSAS. It may play an important role in mechanism of OSAS. (3) There was a negative correlation between IL-6 and thyroid function.
