The monkshood-tuber, which is the vegetative form of Aconitum carmichaeli Debx.,is one of the forty important and commonly used Chinese herbal medicines. The effects and security of zuelaemycin soaking treatment on monkshood-tuber's growth was studied, and the results would provide scientific references on zuelaemycin's commercialization and monkshood's producing and managemental standardization. The details and results are as follows:1. Effects of zuelaemycin soaking treatment with different concentrations on root occurrences and seedling morphology of monkshood-tuberResults of experiments on pot-cultured monkshood-tuber showed that the new born roots' growth were improved by zuelaemycin soaking treatment with all the different concentrations. And as the zuelaemycin concentration increased, the length of roots would also increased, but the number of roots would decreased. The inhibitional effect on fresh and dry weight of the aerial parts reached maximum with 400 times dilution, and the weight increased with 200 times dilution. The growth of seedling could also be promoted by zuelaemycin soaking treatment and 200 times dilution is proved to be the best.2. Effects of zuelaemycin soaking treatment with different lengths of time on root occurrences and seedling morphology of monkshood-tuberAs soaking time went on, the length and number of seminalroots were decreased, but still beyond the carbendazim treatment; the fresh and dry weight were increased. the number, length, fresh and dry weight of laterals, and expanded leaves number were first increased and then decreased. The indexes reached to the maximum in 3 hours. The heights of bud were decreased. The fresh and dry weight of the aerial parts reached the outstanding performances in 20 minutes and 3 hours. From the comprehensive consideration, zuelaemycin is proved to be safe to Aconitum carmichaeli Debx. in the range of 20 minutes to 3 hours treatment.3. Effects of zuelaemycin soaking treatment with different concentrations on growth of field-planted monkshood-tuber and diseases controlResults showed that when the concentration were over 200 times, the length of plants and diameter of stems were increased, the seminal roots were protected from diseases like root rot disease, southern blight disease and downy mildew. The total mass of Alkaloids were also increased. The fresh and dry weight of new born seminal roots reached the optimal value with 200 times dilution. When the concentration were 200 times or 400 times, content of alkaloids in new born seminal roots were a little lower than results of carbendazim soaking treatment. The 200 times dilution is safe, and the result goes consistent with the pot-cultured method.4. Effects of zuelaemycin soaking treatment with different lengths of time on growth of field-planted monkshood-tuber and diseases controlWith different lengths of treating time, height of the plants, diameter of stems, mass of Alkaloids, fresh and dry weight of new born seminal roots were higher than that of the control group CK2. The contents of alkaloids were a little lower, and 20 minutes treatment is the best. The prevention effect of 20 minutes treatment was a little worse than that of carbendazim soaking treatment, but the preventing effect was increased as treating time grow longer.12 hours treatment could protect the plant from those fugal diseases effectively, indicating that as treating time prolong the prevention effect and the plants condition had some negative correlation.5. In summary,200 times dilution for 20 minutes to 3 hours might be the most proper index for zuelaemycin soaking treatment on Aconitum carmichaeli Debx. roots.
