Transplanting is the key part of Dendrobium candidum Wall.ex Lindl. cultivation, but transplanting technique have been developed slowly because of the lack of related studies. On the base of long time experimental studies, the author summarized a set of new technical system of D. candidum plug seedlings, it's efficient and practical. This system can satisfy the need of D.candidum production of large-scale and standardization.On the base of the studies on substrate comparison, nutrient supply, water management of D.candidum plug seedlings, the author summarized a set of new technical system of D. candidum plug seedlings and discussed its extension prospect.1. The physical-chemical characteristics of substrates and the effects of different substrate on survival rate and growth of D. candidum were studied. The results showed that the substrate (turf:perlite:vermiculite=3:1:1) could be used as the best substrate for D. candidum plug seedlings. Its bulk density, porosity saturated moisture capacity, pH and EC were suitable for the growth of D. candidum plug seedlings. This substrate contained abundant mineral nutrient and high organic content with good buffer function. Survival rate of D.candidum seedlings was more than 95% by using this substrate, with high healthy index.2. The effects of nutrient supply from substrate on growth of D. candidum plug seedlings were studied. The results indicated that the concentration of fertilizer (N:P:K=20:20:20) should be soluted to 2000 times for the better growth of D.candidum plug seedlings.3. The effects of water management on growth of D.candidum plug seedlings were studied. The results showed that there was a remarkable difference of D. candidum plug seedlings growth among different substrate moisture conditions. Substrate moisture content 80%-90% was feasible for D.candidum plug seedlings.4. The author summarized a set of technical system of D.candidum plug seedlings and discussed its extension prospect.
