Saline-alkali soil is a kind of important land resource. As the demind of grain increases continually and the plowland resource decreases with each passing day, the comprehensive treatment of salinesoil and the exploitation and use of saline-alkali land resource have become an important problem which is to be solve urgently for the agricultural development and environmental management in the future. This article sampled 183 soil spots in the region of salinization in Songnen plain, Changling County, analyzed the saline-alkali composition and nutrient content of soil, studied the saline-alkali characteristics and nutrients status of soil in western Jilin Province systematically by PCA, Hierarchical Cluster, Correlation Analysis and so on. Its research results has important reference valun and instructive significance for improving saline-alkali land in western Jilin province. The results show that:1. the total salt content, electrical conductivity, PH value and CO32- content of soil are important factors that could measure degree of soil salinization in western Jilin Province;2. soil in western Jilin Province could be divided into 6 grades, ie., agricultural soil, secondary agricultural soil, mild saline-alkali soil, moderate saline-alkali soil, severe saline-alkali soil and alkaline spotting;3. degree of salinization of soil aggravates stepwise from agricultural soil to alkaline spotting, and the composition of salt and alkali in each grade varies accordingly;4. the nutrient content of soil in each grade in western Jilin Province is not high in general, however, contents of available K in each grade are all rich relatively;5. certain relevance exists between each nutrient index for soil in western Jilin Province and composition of salt and alkali. As degree of salinization aggravates, soil whose degree of salinization is more severe has relatively lower content of organic matter and Total-N, but its quickeffecive nutrient, for instance, constents of availabel N and availabel K are relatively higher.
