| The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of diets supplement with form and fiber concentration on the performance of ostrich from 1 to 50 d.1.One hundred and sixty 1 d old ostrich were randomly divided into 4 treatments with 4 replicates in each treatment. Birds in control treatment were fed concentrate and alfalfa with 5% crude fiber, while the other birds only fed pellet diets with three levels of crude fiber (4%, 5%, and 6%). Fed with concentrate and fresh alfalfa treatment significant increased body weight gain (P<0.05) with no mortality ostrich. Only fed pellet diets treatments have similar feed intake, body weight and feed efficiency (P>0.05). Birds fed with 5% crude fiber pellet diets have better body weight gain than 4% or 5% crude fiber treatments, but have the highest mortality (15%). Ostrich intake concentrate and fresh alfalfa have better productivity from 1 to 50 d and low quality fiber supplement form could induce health problems such as coprostasis and finally death. The data indicate that the level of crude in ostrich diet should not less than 6%.2.In order to improve ostrich laying rate, breeding egg hatching rate and health of ostrich chick, based on the same feeding condition, 216 breeding ostriches in breeding center of IKO ostriches Co. Ltd were divided into three group randomly, 72 ostriches in each group. Ostriches in control group were fed with self-made fodder from IKO and prevented with drug, and ostriches in experiment groupâ… and experiment groupâ…¡were feed with EM and probiotics respectively, no antibiotics used. The feeding experiments were performed from February to November in 2004 to 2006 respectively. The results indicated:â‘ Incidence of disease in experimentâ… was higher than in experimentâ…¡and control group by 5.11% and 15.26% respectively (P<0.05). Mortality in experimentâ… was 0.00%, and mortality in experimentâ…¡and control group was 1.85% and 4.63% (P<0.05) respectively.â‘¡Egg production in experimentâ… was higher than in experimentâ…¡and control group by 854 and 901 respectively (P<0.01). The qualified rate of breeding egg in experimentâ… was higher than in experimentâ…¡and control group by 9.76% and 22.12% respectively (P<0.01).â‘¢Fertilization rate in experimentâ… was higher than in experimentâ…¡and control group by 9.76% and 22.12% respectively (P<0.01). Hatching rate in experimentâ… was higher than in experimentâ…¡and control group by 14.83% and 19.06% respectively (P<0.01). The healthy chick rate in experimentâ… was higher than in experimentâ…¡and control group by 11.04% and 20.14% respectively (P<0.01).â‘£In whole experiment period, cost of per breeding ostrich in experimentâ… was lower than in experimentâ…¡and control group by 243 Yuan and 599.4 Yuan respectively. Comprehensive analysis showed: Application of EM received significantly effect in ostrich production and was worth popularizing. |
