Research On Greenhouse Cultivation Of 7 Primula Species In Summer

Primula is a famous alpine flower distributing throughout the moister and cooler regions of the northern hemisphere. Primula usually distributed in alpine district and has been proved to be the "one of the three garden plants of the world" for its gorgeous color and ornamental value. But, because of its natural distribution, the character of intolerance to high temperature made it difficult to be broadly used and domesticated in ornamental horticulture. Nowadays, the research was constrained to only a few wild species of high temperature insistence and Primula denticulata of greenhouse cultivation. In this paper, the research was based on seven species of Primula plants cultivated through summer in greenhouse, including the survey of morphology and physiology changes, observation of the term of seed germination, seeding stage, seeding formation period and florescence. In this process, shade net and Ca2+ treatment were also used to provide theory basis for successful introduction and planting in greenhouse through summer. According to the study, it is concluded as follow:1) Seven Primula materials were planted in the greenhouse, under this process, only Primula sikkimensis died in July 31,2009. The other six kinds of plant material, from the seed germination, the experience of greenhouse summer and winter plants survived and showed different flowering rate;2) From the results of 7 Primula plants cultivated in greenhouse in the process of summer growth, combing the displays of morphology and physiology evaluation, it was concluded that the sequence of resistant ability was Primula veris, Primula×pubescens, Primula obconica, Primula saxatilis, Primula elatior, Primula malacoides, Primula sikkimensis;3) 7 Primula materials cultivated in shade net greenhouse, the ability of high temperature resistant has increased in varying degrees, and the order from high to low is Primula malacoides, Primula×pubescens, Primula saxatilis, Primula obconica, Primula veris, Primula sikkimensis, Primula elatior; 4)Compared to the water treatment, the result of low concentration of CaCl2 solution application was not significant. But high concentration of CaCl2 solution treatment obviously inhibited the growth of Primula saxatilis cultivated in greenhouse and made it unable to overcome the summer. So the results showed that the CaCl2 solution treatment has not successfully help Primula malacoides to overcome summer process. In contradiction, the high concentration of CaCl2 solution was, the more obvious the growth would be inhibited.This study provided theory basis for the seven kinds of Primula material to be introduced to the greenhouse, and successfully overcome summer process and displayed theoretical value as well.
