The dormant reason and mechanisms of Rosa rugosa's seed are studied in this thesis through the mensuration of the permeability of spermoderm, and the bioassay of the solution extracted from spermoderm and seed's embryo, and the dynamic changes of some physiological indexes during the process of breaking dormancy.In order to find out an effective way to break dormancy, the seeds are treated by immersion in the warm water, or chemicals soaking or stratification and so on. The results are shown as follows:The average 1000-seeds'weight of Rosa rugosa's seed is 9.897g, and the average water content of Rosa rugosa's seed is 35.23%, the Rosa rugosa's seed is small grain. The dormant reason of Rosa rugosa's seed is integrated type. Hard spermoderm, to some extent, hinders water absorption and the germination of embryo, and inhibitory substances which are in the spermoderm and embryo lead to the dormancy of Rosa rugosa's seed.During the process of cold stratification, the contents of soluble sugar gradually increase, and the contents of starch and soluble protein decrease, and POD activity gradually increase.they are shown that the internal metabolism of seeds is vigorous,and starch and protein are gradually broken down into small molecules, to provide energy and nutrients for seed's germination. During the process of breaking seed's dormancy, the contents of ABA have shown a downward trend, and the contents of IAA decline in the beginning, and then rise slowly, and the contents of GA3 and ZR have been an upward trend. GA3/ABA, IAA / ABA, ZR / ABA ratio have shown a downward trend.It is indicated that between the changes of the contents and the ratio of hormones and seed's dormancy and germination have certain correlation.The pretreatment of immersion by warm water significantly improves the capacity of seed's germination. The soaking of GA3 and KNO3 also has some promoting effect on breaking the seed's dormancy.The best concentration of GA3 is 1000mg / L, and the best concentration of KNO3 is 2×104mg / L.The treatment of immersion in the warm water, chemicals soaking must be combined with cold stratification in order to break seed's dormancy.For different treatment in the same condition, the outdoor cold stratification,indoor 4℃cold stratification and temperature-accelerated stratification are better for breaking seed's dormancy. Different maturity of the R. rugosa's seed has significantly effect on the germination rate of Rosa rugosa's seed.the best time of harvesting the Rosa rugosa fruits is that the fruits are red, soft. a short period of storage time has a less impact on the germination rate of Rosa rugosa's seed.
