Freesia(Freesia refracta) is an kind of important cut flower during winters and springs.However,most of the varieties are limited in short vase life,etc.And the preservation in cut Freesia is less studied.Previous researchers almost focus on STS,BA,8-HQ,8-HQC,Sucrose,etc.On the other hand previous researchers almost focus on the determination of indexes such as vase life,flower diameter,rate of bloom,etc.Physiological and biochemical indexes were less determined.With yellow Freesia as the test material,this experiment on the one hand research for the effects of pretreatment(6-BA,GA3,CaCl2,Sucrose) combined with low-temperature storage in cut Freesia,in order to research for the effects of pretreatment combined with low-temperature storage in cut Freesia and the mechanism of delaying senescence.On the other hand research for the effects of vase solution containing different free radical scavengers(salicylic acid,benzoic acid,ascorbic acid) in cut Freesia,in order to research for the effects of pretreatment in Freesia and the mechanism of delaying senescence.The results are showed as follows:1.Effects of different kinds and concentrations of preservatives are different in protreatment.All of the preservatives containing 6-BA,GA3,CaCl2,Sucrose have effects to preservation,increasing fresh weight,prolonging life and proving ornamental quality more or less.GA3 is effective for maintaining activaty of SOD.6-BA,GA3,CaCl2 are effective for reducing the content of MDA,reducing lipid peroxidation.6-BA,GA3,Sucrose are effective for maintaining content of soluble Sucrose,the effect of Sucrose is strongest. 6-BA,GA3,CaCl2,Sucrose all effect on relieving accruing of superoxide radical,the effect of CaCl2 is strongest.In this research effects of 6-BA,GA3,CaCl2,Sucrose are strongest at the concentration of 50mg/L,150mg/L,3%,20%,respectively.Effect of 20%Sucrose is the strongest among the four kinds of pretreatment solution on preservation of cut Freesia.2.Effects of different kinds and concentrations of preservatives are different in vasing. All of the preservatives containing salicylic acid,benzoic acid,ascorbic acid can promote water absorbing,having obvious effects to preservation,increasing fresh weight,prolonging life and proving ornamental quality.Salicylic acid,benzoic acid and ascorbic acid are effective for decreasing the rate of formation of superoxide radical as radical scavenger,and therefor prolong vasing life.Salicylic acid,benzoic acid and ascorbic acid are effective for relieving decomposing of soluble protein more or less.Salicylic acid,benzoic acid and ascorbic acid are also effective for reducing the content of MDA.In this research effects of Salicylic acid,benzoic acid and ascorbic acid are strongest at the concentration of 50mg/L,the same. Effect of 50mg/L Salicylic acid is the strongest among the three kinds of vase solution on preservation of cut Freesia.
