The author did research on living vegetation volume of the 56 kinds of common landscape plants in Nanjing,in order to provide basic parameters for further evaluating the ecological benefit of different green space quantitatively in the future. It could also provide theoretical basis and data support for analyzing the rationality of the structure of green space and further improving the green space system planning evaluation system of urban and rural areas in China.The main conclusions were drawn as follows:1.The author standardized the definition of "living vegetation volume "and "living vegetation volume-related indicators" more scientifically。"Living vegetation volume" is three-dimension green quantity of the plants,including the following four groups of indicators:the three-dimension volume and three-dimension volume index;the total leaf area and leaf area index;the total leaf volume and leaf volume index;the total leaf weight and leaf weight index.2.The author unified the effective method for studying living vegetation volume of trees,shrubs,herbs,lianas that is non-destructive direct method.3.The author established the best living vegetation volume's regression model of different plants.It is available to develop regression models to predict the three-dimension volume indicators from growing parameters of the plants more accurately.4.The author determined the parameters of the leaf in different growing month of the whole year.The average single leaf area,single leaf volume and single leaf weight had parabolic relationship with the growing month,generally more larger in summer and autumn,more smaller in winter and spring for deciduous plants;more larger in autumn and winter,more smaller in spring for evergreen plants.5.The author estimated the each indicators of living vegetation volume of different plants more easily and more accurately by the best living vegetation volume's regression model and the parameters of the leaf in different growing month of the whole year.The crown diameter and the breast height of the plants of the same plant had a positive correlation with living vegetation volume of the plants.The living vegetation volume of the plants was not only depended on each single leaf area,single leaf volume,single leaf weight of the plants but also governed by the shape of tree crown,the intensive degree of branches and leaves,the arrangement of leaves.At the same time,the green term of the different plants were also important factors.The overall data showed evergreen>semi-evergreen>deciduous,trees>shrubs>herbs,by comparing the indicators of living vegetation volume of the plants.
