Genetic control of growth traits and partly wood properties, correlation between traits of growth and wood properties, synthetic index selection and correlation between genetic parameter and main climatic factors were studied on Chinese fir(Cunninghamia lanceolata) with a 11×11(now remained 8×8,53 combinations) diallel fullsib mating, which was planted in a genetic testing on YangKou Forest Farm,Fujian province in 1981.The main results were as follows:1.There were highly significant genetic differences among families' on growth traits such as HT,DBH,VOL,and on wood properties such as wood basic density and microfibril angle in genetic variations.2.There were significant differences among the five traits in genetic parameters such as additive effects, female effects and dominant effects. The five characters were to be controlled genetically, but more effectives are the maternal.3.Predicted regression equations of genetic parameters of each trait in each age of forest.4.The results showed that the early prediction for additive effects, female effects and dominant effects were valid after one fourth of circulation period.5.The coefficients of correlation among growth traits, wood basic density and microfibril angle in 27a were explored.6.Synthetic index equation based on VOL,wood basic density and microfibril angle in 27a was built.7.Some excellent parents and combinations were selected based on gene analysis and synthetic index equation.8.Five excellent crosses were selected both for superior growth traits and wood properties through synthetic index equation under 10%selection pressure. In addition, two individuals were selected out of the selected crosses under 10%selection pressure and 10 excellent individuals to be pick up totally.9.The relationship between growth traits and genetic parameters with climatic factors were explored.
