Cherry tomato (Lycopersicon Esculentum var.Cerasiforme Alef), originated from South America, is also named as mini-tomato, minitype tomato, or small tomato, etc. It is one of the top-grade fruits as well as vegetables because of its lovely appearance, abundant nutrition and special flavor, and is one of the fastest developed vegetables on both planting aera and consumption in recent years. However, the research on genetic breeding and superior hybridization of new varieties of cherry tomato is almost blank, and the offseed mainly depends on importing from Japan and Taiwan Area, P. R. China. Therefore, the paper used molecular marker to study the genetic background of cherry tomato germplasm resources, integrating conventional breeding with molecular marker-assisted breeding, to provide guidance for cherry tomato breeding and improving breeding efficency. The main obtained results are as follows.1.The genetic diversity analysis and molecular marker-assisted breeding techniques of 32 cherry tomato germplasm resources were studied by RAPD marker, showing their genetic diversity and genetic relationship, and preliminarily establishing the techniques for molecular genetic map and molecular marker-assisted breeding systems of cherry tomato germplasm.2. Based on abundant genetic background of the population, and cluster result of RAPD marker, 39 cross combinations were made from 9 inbred line of distant relationship and different characteristics. Then 17 of the cross combinations were certified to further test on heterosis and comprehensive characters. Among them two preferable cross combinations were selected out, respectively 16-6-1×16-10-6 and 6-5-6×16-9-4, which were recognized as FUDAN and SHENGYA by Non-main Crop Variety Accreditation Committee of Fujian Province in March, 2008.3. The culture techniques relating output and quality of the two cherry tomato varieties were also studied, including different training types and fertilizations, with a technological system for high yield and good quality of the two cherry tomato varieties concluded.4. The demonstration and extension tests were so successful in Fuzhou, Ningde city and San'ming with advantages such as good quality, high yield and strong adaptability, etc. Presently, the demonstration area reached 2 hectares, and the radiated extention area was above to 2000 hectares in Xiamen, San'ming and Nanping.
