The article has two aims. The one is offer academic basis by the research of drought resistance and water consumption in seven Limber pine (Pinus flexilis James) provenances. The other one is offer the result of the suitable plant district in north of china by climate and soil factors.Then we can offer the basic academic basis for introduction of Limber pine (Pinus flexilis James).In incubator and greenhouse ,we controlled the water condition by using the method of simulating drought stress.Then we study the drought resistance and water consumption in different water condition.The result indicate that :(1):Through the study on the germination characteristic of three Limber pine (Pinus flexilis James) provenances by seed germination rates, Vigor index, seedling fresh weights, drought resistance index.We received the qiantif icational result that the Arizona provenance excled the other provenances in drought resista ce in the period of germination. And low consistence Hoagland solution with PEG-6000 have the effect that advances the Arizona and Nvada Pinus flexilis James seed germination.(2) :The sapling of Limber pine (Pinus flexilis James) come to serious drought in the upper flow of water. So it may be belong to the plant that lingering dehydration in high flow of water.In normal water supply,the daily variations in quantities and rates of water consumpti on of seedlings showed single peak tape.And the peak value appeared in 10:00~12:00. In the four provenances who growth three years,the provenance of San Diego have better drougt repellence. In the three provenances who growth two years,the provenance of Arizona have better drought repellence.By applying fuzzy distance similitude priority ratio and gray clustering in climate and soil,the results indicate that the suitable plant district in north of china is the middle south of huabei and south of xinjiang district.The secondly suitable district is Shandong province,north of Hebei province,Ningxia province,Gansu province and Shanxi province. The district that not fit for plant Pinus flexilis James is Dongbei district,Neimenggu district,Qinghai district and north of Xinjiang district.
