This article takes coastal protection forest soil of Zhejiang Province as the research object. Regarding Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 as programming language, ESRI MapObjects 2.0 as component of GIS, Microsoft Access 2000 as database platform, ESRI ArcGIS Desktop 9.2 as library-building platform of spatial database, coastal protection forest soil information system of Zhejiang Province was constructed. Taking Zhousan of Zhejiang Province as example, preliminary evaluated the soil fertility in the local coastal area of Zhejiang Province. Comprehensively evaluated the soil quality of coastal protection forest in Zhejiang Province, and divided the grade of soil quality.The soil fertility of Zhujiajian located in Zhousan analyzed by principal component analysis. The result showed that the total soil fertility of this area was poor, and the available nutrient especially the available phosphorus was very poor. Taking soil bulk density, soil thickness, soil organic matter, pH value, total nitrogen, total phosphorus, total potassium, hydrolyzable nitrogen, available phosphorus, available potassium and soil salt content as evaluation factors, ascertaining factors weigh by method of'factor analysis- common factors variance', and constructing membership functions of factors , the soil quality of costal protection forest in Zhejiang Province had been evaluated and the grade of soil quality has been divided. The result showed that the grade of soil quality wasâ…¢,â…£,â…¤in most of the plots. The soil quality of costal protection forest in Zhejiang Province was poor.Based on sampling and analyzing of the soil physical and chemical properties, investigating plants of sites, and on the base of the collection and sorting out the related data, the database or spatial database of soil, plants, salt-resistant property of protection forest variety and typical sample plots of protection forest was constructed. The design and implementation of the spatial distribution module of typical sample plots of costal protection forest in Zhejiang Province, display module of the coastal backbone forest strip, the farmland shelter forest network and the hilly mountains shelter forest network, and modules of soil quality evaluation and planting decision-making of tree species of protection forest was completed. The coastal protection forest soil information system of Zhejiang Province was constructed.
