In this paper, the 3a-HSD transgenic rice was used as experimental material to investigate quality traits and agronomic traits. The molecular analysis of the transgenic rice and its impacts on steroids in soil were also conducted.The results were as follows:1. PCR and PCR-Southern blot analysis demonstrated that the 3a-HSD gene was successfully integrated into genomic DNA of Minghui 86. It was completely feasible and stably inherited to transduct microbial genes into plants.The inheritance of transgenic rice was analysed in different generations. The genetic separation ratio in different generations or in different strains was not the same, but more and more stable in the high generation. The genetic separation ratio of T1 generation was 2:1, 3:1 in T2 generation and 4:1 in T3 generation.2. The agronomic traits analysis showed the difference between the transgenic rice and the control, and the difference was also existed in different transgenic strains. Lower and weaker growth, fewer tiller and panicles numbers, shoter tassel and panicles length, lower seed setting rate and weight of 1000-grains were often found in T0 transgenic rice. T1 transgenic rice growed better than T0 generation, and its agronomic traits were almost the same to the control except the seed setting rate. T2 agronomic traits were no significant difference with the control. T3 agronomic traits were the same to the control. Therefore, it was able to cultivate 3a-HSD transgenic pure lines.3. The results of the quality characters showed that the soluble protein, starch content and other nutrient content in transgenic rice reduced in early generations, but recovered gradually to the level of the control. The sitosterol content of six transgenic strains decreased significantly compared to the control.These results indicated that the 3a-HSD transgenic rice could achieve the expected results considering the quality traits of the transgenic rice .4. The impacts of transgenic rice on soil showed that transgenic rice had better steroids degradation ability, but the ability changed in different generations.The results further illustrated that the transgenic rice had the strongest degradation ability at maturity period than any other periods.
