There separate experiments were conducted to investigate whether dietary yeast feed could improve the growth performance and intestine development of quail. In Experimentâ… ,day-old 180 quails were fed one of the four experimental diets with increasing levels of active yeast cell at 0.0%,0.06%,0.1%and 0.2%.Each treatment consisted 3 cages with 15 quails per cage.In Experimentâ…¡,day-old 120 quails were fed one of the four experimental diets with increasing levels of yeast cell wall at 0.0%,0.1%,0.2%and 0.3%.Each treatment consisted of 3 cages with 10 quails per cage.In Experimentâ…¢,day-old 120 quails were fed one of the four experimental diets with increasing levels of yeast extract at 0.0%,0.1%,0.2%and 0.3%.Each treatment consisted of 3 cages with 10 quails per cage. Each treatment consisted of 3 cages with 15 quails per cage.Feed and water were provided ad libitum throughout the experiment that lasted 35d.In Experimentâ… ,feed/gain ratio of quails decreased(P<0.05) during 0-25d by addition of active yeast cell.Average body weight of quails increased(P<0.05) during 14-25d by addition of 0.2%active yeast cell while average body weight of quail increased during 25-35d by addition of 0.06%active yeast cell.Average feed intake decreased during 14-25d by addition of 0.06%active yeast cell.Addition of active yeast cell into the control diet significantly decreased the colibacillus content(P<0.05) and increased the lactobacillus content(P<0.05).The content of serum cholesterol was decreased by the addition of 0.1%and 0.2%active yeast cell(P<0.05).In Experimentâ…¡,during 0-25d,a significantly low(P<0.05) average feed intake was observed in quails fed 0.2%and 0.3%yeast cell wall compared to the control.During 14-25d, the feed/gain ratio was lower in 0.1%and 0.3%yeast cell wall groups(P<0.05) than those of the control.Addition of yeast cell wall into the control diet significantly decreased the colibacillus content(P<0.05) and increased the lactobacillus content(P<0.05).The content of serum cholesterol was decreased by the addition of 0.2%and 0.3%yeast cell wall(P<0.05).In Experimentâ…¢,average feed intake of quails decreased(P<0.05) during 0-14d by the addition of 0.3%yeast extract,a significantly low(P<0.05) the feed/gain ratio was observed in quail fed 0.3%yeast extract compared to the control.A significant long ileum length(P<0.05) was observed in quails fed 0.3%yeast exreact compared to the control.Addition of yeast extract into the control diet significantly decreased the colibacillus content(P<0.05) and increased the lactobacillus content(P<0.05).The content of serum cholesterol was decreased by the addition of 0.2%and 0.3%yeast extract(P<0.05).It can be concluded from this study that dietary yeast could not only improve the bacteria of intestine but also enhance growth performance of quails.
