Quail was paid more and more attention as experimental animals and for it's values of nutri-tion and health protection ,and the growth of quail husbandry was fast. The layer quail and meat quail with fast growth, high product performance, high quality, low cost was always the objectives of researchers and raising households. This study was designed to estimate effects of the polymorphism of GH(Growth Hormone) gene and GHR(Growth hormone receptor) gene on performance in Korea maroon feather and Chi-na white feather multiline cross system`s quail and Sha Wei Ma Te quail raised in single cave with molecular nutrition methods. Weekly body weight, weight gain, feed intake, feed-meat ratio, slaughter performance, apparent digestibility of crude protein and crude fat, content of crude pro-tein and crude fat In muscles of thorax and laying performance of layer quail. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in GH gene and GHR gene were identified and genotyped by polymerase chain reaction followed by single strand conformation polymorphism (PCR-SSCP) analysis and DNA sequencing in Korea maroon feather and China white feather multiline cross system`s quail and Sha Wei Ma Te quail. Correlation analysis between polymorphism of the mutational site and growth, body composition traits , slaughter performance and laying performance were carried by the. Main research results as follows:1. The sequence of the exon 1 of GH gene in the two varieties of quail was cloned. Length of the fragment was 282bp, homology between the two varieties of quai was 100% and that with cGHR gene(Accession EU515189.1) was 97% through Blast of NCBI. The SNPs in the exon 1of GHR gene were identified and no SNPs were detected in the research.2. The sequence of the intron 4 of GHR gene in the two varieties of quail was cloned. Length of the fragment was 290bp, homology between the two varieties of quai was 100% and that with cGHR gene(Accession AY5008761) was 95% through Blast of NCBI.3. One mutation (T181C) was detected in intron 4 of GHR gene in Korea maroon feather and China white feather multiline cross system`s quail. AA and AB genotype were discovered in this colony. The results of test of significance revealed that the two genotypes had significant associa-tion with age at first laying and body weight at first laying. And had association with average daily gain at 4-5 weekly old, feed-meat ratio at 4-5 week old, live weight, carcass weight, breast muscle weight, egg weight at first laying, laying rate at laying period, but had not significant difference.4. One mutation (G232T) was detected in intron 4 of GHR gene in ShaWeiMaTe quail. CC , CD, DD genotypes were discovered in this colony. The least square analysis showed that the geno-types of G232T mutation had association with body weight at 7 days old, abdominal fat weight, Percentage of Abdominal Fat, feed-meat ratio at 4-5 week old and metabolic rate of crude protein, but had not significant difference.
