Studies On Peanut Hulls And Coir Pith For Growing Media Of Cymbidium Sinense

Cymbidium sinense is the one of the main traditional flower in China.By investigating the main growing areas of Fujian and Guangdong,it is found that the techniques in the most of plantations are extensive,particularly in growing media,whose ratios are relatively random.and the technics are not in in standard.lt takes many problems to the cultivationg of Cymbidium.The current studies about prior disposals on medium and the media of Cymbidium are less and lack in guidance.In order to solve these problems,in this paper,based on peanut hulls and coir pith as the raw material of medium,the early stage of the prior disposals on medium material are detailed studied,and by using the different ratios of medium to cultivate and compare potted Cymbidium,aims to find a standard way of the pre-process of growing medium,and to improve the utilization of traditional agriculture and forestry waste,and to selecte a better ratio of the medium of cultivated Cymbidium.The results are as follows:1.Basing on peanut hulls and coir pith as the raw material of growing medium,soaking in water,air storage and adding the active bacterium are used to deal with the material.The results show that: Processing in a month time,the way by adding the active bacterium can significantly intensify the compost maturity,and promote the decomposition of carbon in the medium,and reduce the C/N to 30 or so,and EC and pH are both within the requirements of the cultivation.It is the relatively better approach.2.Adding the three concentrations of Effective microorganisms,followed by 1/500,1/1000 and 1/1500.in the pre-processing,the temperature,pH value,EC value,density such as 9 indicators are measured and compared,combining with the calculation of the synthetical evaluation,the results show that:the disposal's synthetical evaluation of adding the 1/1000 concentration of bacteria is significantly better than the others,and it is to be the best deal with the concentration. 3.Using the medium which are after pre-processing,it is to choose the 6 diposals to cultivate the Cymbidium.The 8 synthetical evaluations are calculated and analyzed,such as the physical and chemical properties of medium,the height of plants,the roots and so on.2 disposals are seleceted whose synthetical evaluations are significantly better than the others:they are peanut hulls:stone=1:2 and coir pith: stone=1:2,and the ratio coir pith:stone=1:2 is the best as the growing medium of all disposals.4.The cost accounting methods and accounting systems of the Cymbidium growing medium are to be discussed.The results show that the cost of the medium which are selected is only around 15%-20% of the currently medium used in the cultivation of orchids.So it is a cheap and good kind of growing medium for the Cymbidium.In this paper,starting from the field survey,basing on the perspective of environmental protection and conservation,it is studied on the medium pre-process by using peanut hulls and coir pith as the raw material and also on the influence of growth and development of the Cymbidium in the different medium ratios.The results provide the standard cultivation of the Cymbidium and the production cost savings a scientific basis.
