The winemaking varieties(Cabernet Souvignon,Merlot,Pinot Noir,Cabernet Franc, Italian Riesling,Shuangyouhong and Chardonnay ) were introduced to Jiayuguan Gebi prefecture,Gansu province.Systemative observe on the botany characteristic of the variety, agronomical characteristic,cold-resistance,berry quality have been done during 2005 to 2007,in order to find out the fine winemaking varieties and varieties associationsuitable for local development,and offer certain theoretical foundation for winemaking gand building viniyard in this area.The final result of study shows:1.Chardonnay and Italian Riesling are mid-maturing varieties,and all the other varieties are late-maturing variety among seven breeds.For the reason of the special climate in the area of Jiayuguan,the bud stage of the winemaking varieties is late by 10d except for Shuangyouhong,which is easy to be damaged by late frost.2.The survey of the production factor show that shuangyou has stronger growth potential,higher germiantion rate and results sticks,but low grape weight,single plat production and general production compared with other varieties.3.The inviestigation of cold resistance exhibit that Shuangyouhong grafted seedlings have strongest cold resistance,and the filing soil is dispensable.Chardonnay,Cabernet Souvignon,Italian Riesling,and Pinot Noir have stronger cold resitance,but Merlot and Cabernet Franc have weak cold resistance,so have a high cold damage index.4.In general,the study of disease resistance present that the area of Gebi has a lower incidence of a disease than other areas.under the condition of no prevention on disease, Chardonnay,Cabernet Franc is susceptible to blankets disease,espacially Cabernet Franc have a higher ill index(19.5%),all the tested varieties is senstive to downy mildew,all the tested varieties have a resistance on Anthrax(anthracnose) except Shuangyouhong.5.Fruit analysis reveal that all of them have more sugar and less acids,except Shuangyouhong have an higher proportion sugar and lower acid.Pinot Noir,Italian Riesling,Cabernet Souvignon,Chardonnay,Merlot have a good quility and becoming PH value, are suit for refine red wine.6.From all the tested varieties,based on gorwth period and produciton cold resistance and the quality of fruit,Pinot Noir,Cabernet Souvignon,Chardonnay,Italian Riesling is suit for redwine manufacture.although Shuangyouhong have strongest cold resistance,the Shuangyouhong will can't achieve a well economic requite and not suit to planted in this area.Merlot have a weak cold resistance,with the cold resistance equipment,it could planted in here Cabernet Franc is fragile for cold resistance,the gredient of sugar and acid is not better than other varieties.
