Forest region wild vegetable resource investigation and study is one of priority project of science and technology in 2006 ,which the number is 2006—15. It aims at the area in Datong county that wild forest region vegetable kind enriches comparatively, especially Dongxia forest region , Baoku forest region and Niangniang mountain forest area are the area that wild vegetable kind concentrates comparatively in Datong county. But in these wild vegetable kind, which kind has exploitation making use of value, amounts resource numbers, how distribution waits for condition , this condition is still a blank space. The investigation for this purpose in the whole county, carrying out science on wild forest region vegetable resource systematically, grasps it's kind , resource amounts and distribution , has very important significance to carrying out the resource making use of now available wild vegetable and protecting rationally in the days to come. Investigation is divide into three stages . The first stage is to look up the data, work out the investigation and study plan; The second stage is open country fact finding. The third stage is the data arranges analysis. The open country has concentrated investigation time lasting for 5 months from May 2006 to end of September 2006, has accomplished open country investigation and specimen acquisition mainly , has collected specimens together being close to 300 share. The data arranges analytical time from October 2006 to the end of December, have accomplished the specimen appraisal and material mainly writing and so on. This article draws forest region vegetation investigation and study , natural environment condition investigation and study experience, according to this result of investigation and study, combining with existing economy , society , actual condition of ecological environment, carries out investigation and study and come to reach a conclusion on wild vegetable forest regions in Datong county. Induction as follows:1. The wooded areas of Datong county is abundant in the storage of wild vegetable resources. There are as much as 60 species which belong to 42 genera, 18 families. They have great value of conservation and exploitation, and they are also an important part of wild plant gene bank of China.2. There are several problems exist in the study of the of wild vegetable resources in the wooded areas of Datong county. In the study of Datong's wild vegetable resources, a series of problems has been discovered, such as the great gap between the vegetable's production and consumption, the nonexistence of the characteristics of the wild vegetable's development, the lack of policy and financial support, the shortage of brands of the vegetable's development, and so forth. Most vegetables are collected in a natural way, and the protection of the wild vegetable resources is insufficient, as a result, some species are exhausted or on the edge of extinction.3.The distribution characteristics of Datong County Forest wildvegetables. Wild vegetables mostely born in hillside and wild woodland, forest edge, shrub, etc., it can be divided into 5 zones. In the farmland and villages zone, most wild vegetables are herbs, with sparse plant cover and lower competition, and the species of wild vegetables is rich,preliminary identified 47; and forest vegetation zone is wooded and high canopy density, not conducive to the growth of herbs, so preliminary identified 8 of them; and in shrub vegetation lush forest belt, where vegetations are flourish, there are small number of types of symbiotic species of wild vegetables, the type identified initially is 12; and bush,meadow zone is sparse in vegetation, because of harsh natural conditions and short growing seasons, most of the wild vegetables are not suitable to live, the identified type is 13; and alpine meadow, uncovered rock are of sparse vegetation, because of harsh natural conditions, short growing seasons, wild vegetables are not appropriate to grow, the type is 5.4. It has a gread potential on Datong County Forest resourceutilization of wild vegetables. Datong County, about 20 kinds of vegetables cultivated while 60 wild vegetables was initially identified, that is 3 times of the cultivation of vegetables. Till now, 7 kinds (fern, nettle, dandelion, vegetable land, sonchus, shepherd's purse, artemisia page) of wild vegetables have been developed and made use of, taking 10% of the total number of wild species; and no more than 3% of the wild vegetables reserves, according to the result of the preliminary statisics of the used resource quantity. Hence, 90% of wild types and 97% of the reserves on Datong County Forest are await to be developed.
